FEDERAL ADVOCACY ISSUES
- The number of people who would receive coverage under the bill must be increased, or the hospital payment reductions be lowered
- The public option, as currently included in the Senate bill, should be dropped in favor of a non-governmental, non-profit co-op approach
- The hospital readmissions policy must be narrowed to address only truly avoidable readmissions
STATE ADVOCACY ISSUES
The goal of Sierra Vista Regional Health Center's Advocacy group is to provide on-going analysis, information, and recommendations for action on the entire spectrum of health care legislative and regulatory issues. These are issues affecting the service area of Sierra Vista Regional Health Center on a national, state, and local level. The main responsibilities of the group are to:
Annually, develop proposed an Advocacy Agenda to submit to the Board of Trustees for approval
Coordinate visits with State and Federal Legislators at various sites
Develop and host Candidate Forums for State Legislative Candidates in election years
Develop an advocacy network by making presentations on Health Care concerns to Civic groups
Forward Advocacy alerts to the Advocacy network
